Newby question from me, would all of these loads be legal for IDPA DMG? I have been trying to figure out what loads are allowed for DMG and can't seem to find a conclusive answer for this. I know some stages will specify slugs, but what is the allowed range of loads for the "normal" shotgun stages.

My semi-auto shottie doesn't cycle lighter loads that well, so I've been using 4/32g. I'm hoping to have a pump licence come through so I can start using lighter loads.

    Thanks in advance.

PS I already made use of this awesome deal last week and stocked up on the 28g ammo. :) Just hope the pump licence comes through haha.

it's not really the place I would put this post. Rather go ask this question in the appropriate subforum. The SADPA one but no, your load isn't legal. Rule no. "6.S6 Shotgun stages or strings may be all paper, all steel, all clay or a combination of paper & steel & clay. Only shot shells smaller than 4 may be used on steel targets. The match organisers are allowed to stipulate limitation on shot sizes, but are required to advertise the requirement beforehand"

So only no 5 and smaller shells may be used. These loads advertised here are all perfectly DMG legal loads. Your no.4 shot is not.

    Thanks for your reply S&W-Shooter.

For some reason I just could never find the section in the DMG rule book that defined the shot sizes (and I honestly did look...). I must learn to read slower.

I also was wondering if there is a minimum shot size, e.g. would #8 or #9 shot shells also be legal - but let me open a new thread for this.

    It will be fine.
Remember shotgun size works in reverse. The higher the # the smaller the shot and hence the less damage it does. So #5 is much heavier per pellet and hence a bit more destructive than #6 or #7 would be. So remember higher number shot the smaller the pellets.

#8 and #9 will probably not have enough weight behind it to knock over steel. Well at anything but point blank range which means in IDPA terms mean at least 9m.
